Global Interfaith University and Artifex University of Romania, in partnership with 21st Century Open University and African Union University International, successfully co-hosted the highly anticipated International Conference on Religion, Science, and Development. The event, held on Friday, December 12, 2025, via zoom, centered around the theme “Science and Faith in Education: Shaping Values for Future Generations,” brought together scholars, educators, religious leaders, scientists, and policymakers from around the world to explore the dynamic relationship between spirituality and scientific progress in shaping ethical and moral values for tomorrow’s society.

The conference, attended by 25 participants, opened with a warm welcome from university representatives, emphasizing the importance of fostering dialogue between faith-based perspectives and scientific inquiry. The keynote speech set the tone for the day, featuring prominent figures who underscored the need for integrative approaches to education that respect diverse worldviews while promoting critical thinking, innovation, and moral integrity.
Throughout the day, sessions covered a broad spectrum of topics. One key discussion highlighted how religious teachings can complement scientific understanding in addressing global challenges such as climate change, health crises, and technological ethics. Speakers shared case studies illustrating successful collaborations between faith communities and scientific institutions, demonstrating that mutual respect and shared values can enhance societal resilience and moral responsibility.
Another significant theme was the role of education in cultivating future generations who are both scientifically literate and ethically grounded. Panelists debated curricula designs that incorporate interfaith dialogue, scientific literacy, and moral philosophy, aiming to produce well-rounded individuals capable of making informed decisions in complex, multicultural environments. Educators emphasized the importance of nurturing curiosity, empathy, and integrity alongside academic excellence.

The conference also featured interactive workshops and roundtable discussions, allowing participants to engage directly with innovative pedagogical models. Topics included integrating religious perspectives into STEM education, promoting intercultural understanding through joint projects, and developing policies that support inclusive, values-based learning environments. A notable highlight was the presentation of recent research on how faith-based organizations contribute to community development and social cohesion, often serving as catalysts for positive change. Experts argued that by aligning scientific advancements with spiritual values, societies can better address ethical dilemmas posed by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, gene editing, and data privacy.
The conference concluded with a call to action, urging educational institutions worldwide to embrace holistic approaches that integrate science and faith, thereby shaping future leaders who are both knowledgeable and morally responsible. The success of this international gathering not only strengthened ties between participating universities but also underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue in addressing global issues. Both Global Interfaith University and Artifex University expressed their commitment to continuing collaborations, innovative research, and educational initiatives that promote harmony between science and spirituality. By emphasizing the theme “Science and Faith in Education: Shaping Values for Future Generations,” the event highlighted the vital role of integrated education in preparing balanced, ethical individuals capable of leading positive change in a rapidly evolving world. The conference’s outcomes promise to inspire future projects and policies aimed at fostering a more inclusive, morally conscious global society.
